The aim of the Spiritual Social Action Program is:
“To engage the congregation in connecting with members of the community through events and projects to assist those in need, and to offer opportunities for spiritual growth.”
The Unity of Omaha Spiritual Social Action Program selects special service projects open to the entire congregation throughout the year. Other projects are active on an ongoing basis. We attempt to balance efforts between local, national and international areas, age specific areas, gender areas, traditional projects and exploring new avenues. We try to support organizations with a structure in place to preclude starting from scratch and to better utilize our resources.
Special projects coordinated by our Spiritual Social Action Program are: collections of money, food, clothing, toys, blankets, school supplies, stuffed animals and personal care items have benefited numerous agencies with whom we coordinate. We’ve supported NE Aids Project, Salvation Army, Siena/Francis House Homeless Shelter, Holy Family Church Door Ministry, Sorenson Residential and Assisted Living Facility, Douglas County Health Center, Mission for All Nations, Samaritan’s Purse, Mystic Fest, Mozambique orphans and St. Joseph nursing home.
