What is Unity

Unity is a spiritual movement founded on the universal, spiritual teachings of Jesus Christ. Most people see Unity as a spiritual way of life rather than a religion. Unity believes that Jesus taught and demonstrated a universal spiritual truth about humankind’s relationship with God. We interpret his teachings about the Kingdom of Heaven/God as a state of being that can be attained on earth as human beings awaken to the presence and power of God within. The five Unity teachings support that concept.

5 Basic Unity Principles

1. There is only one Presence and one Power active as the universe and as my life, God the Good.

2. Our essence is of God; therefore, we are inherently good. This God essence, called the Christ, was fully expressed in Jesus.

3. We are co-creators with God, creating reality through thoughts held in mind.

4. Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God. Denials and affirmations are tools we use.

5. Through thoughts, words and actions, we live the Truth we know.

Whether you have a church home, have never joined a church, or already practice Unity principles, we welcome you as a kindred spirit who is learning to apply spiritual principles in pursuit of a happier, healthier, and more prosperous life.

Unity embraces all people. Unity seeks to transcend religious denominations as a harmonizing, strengthening influence. We believe there is truth in all teachings. Unity leaves all people free to find the truth for themselves.

Unity has sometimes been confused with other religious groups with similar names, such as the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Unification Church. We are not affiliated with either organization. We welcome and honor all people.
